April showers bring May flowers. Well, we certainly hope so but there has been much chatter about how we are headed for a drought.
The City of Calgary is monitoring conditions but here are a few ways you can conserve water: obtain a rain barrel to collect water to water your plants, add gravel or mulch on top of your flower beds to keep moisture in your soil, incorporate drought tolerant plants into your garden, and don’t water during the heat of the day (only water in early morning or late in the evening).
There are also ways to conserve water indoors by turning off the water when brushing your teeth or shaving, only running full loads of laundry and dishes, taking shorter showers, and fixing leaky taps and toilets. Keep an eye on The City of Calgary’s website for more information on water restrictions.
The Citadel Community Association continues to plan events and workshops for our residents.
Here’s a quick list of upcoming events:
• May 3 – Introduction to Energy Efficiency Workshop
• May 25 – Community Garden Opening
• June 15 – Neighbour Day/All Sport Day
• June 15 to 16 – Citadel Parade of Garage Sales
• July 6 – Stampede BBQ
Keep an eye on our website (https://www.citadelca.ab.ca/CCA/) for more information on each event. We’d love to have you attend or join us as a volunteer. Each event requires a lot of planning and a whole lot of volunteers, especially our Stampede BBQ. If you are able to volunteer for any event, please email [email protected].
Thank you always for your support.
