Whether you’re new to Calgary or a long-time resident, being a good neighbour helps us all create a safer, cleaner, and more connected community. The City of Calgary’s Good Neighbour Practices set a minimum standard for all of us to follow, ensuring that our neighbourhoods remain pleasant places to live.
Here are a few key areas to consider:
• On and Around Your Property: Maintain trees, shrubs, and lawns, and keep sidewalks clear of snow and ice. Address issues like untidy properties or needed structure repairs to keep the neighbourhood looking its best.
• Noise and Fire Pits: Be mindful of noise levels, especially between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am, and follow fire pit regulations.
• Waste and Recycling: Follow the collection schedule, separate waste correctly into black, blue, and green carts, and ensure that bins are out only on collection days.
• Parking and Nuisances: Be considerate of parking, especially with recreational vehicles. Don’t let nuisances (like loud music or pet noise) escape onto neighbouring properties.
• Additional Guidelines: Familiarize yourself with bylaws on topics like pesticide use, watering lawns, vehicle parking, and home-based businesses.
By following these simple guidelines, we can work together to build a strong, respectful, and thriving neighbourhood.
Thank you for your commitment to making our community a better place!
Warm Regards,
Stephanie Christensen
