April’s President’s Report from Crescent Heights

Hello Crescent Heights,

You may reason that it is spring and summer when we get down to doing things. If you have observed the extensive use of our outdoor community skating rinks, however, you may think that winter is our most active time of year. We wish the rink management team a most restful break from all their hard work this past winter. If they are not the city’s best outdoor rink team, I will be surprised.

AGLC has offered us August 9 and 10 (Tuesday and Wednesday) for running our volunteer fundraising casino at Cowboys casino. This event will enable us to organize activities which are not possible now due to lack of funds. We are looking for a volunteer recruiter for this event as well as volunteers, so if you know someone who would be a good fit, please have them contact me at [email protected].

A few of the benefits from fund raising for Crescent Heights are:

  • Run fun events, stage afternoon music shows, and attract art projects.
  • Maintain our hall and outdoor rinks to be used for all kinds of local events.
  • Organize the community and river clean-up activities.
  • Revitalize our parks for everyone to enjoy.
  • Publish The View, E-blast, and maintain our website.

We still need a membership system administrator who will enter new members into our new system and email renewal notices and membership cards. We are also looking for an engagement director to organize events, and a facilities director to oversee our hall. Thanks to our competent hall rental manager and our lack of funds, very little is required of the facilities director. Because our hall is a city-controlled building, however, it requires that someone is responsible for it from Crescent Heights.

Our community appreciates it when you get involved. Youth and diversity are highly desired. Hope to see you around.
