Kids of All Ages are Invited to the Opening of ‘Monsters, Fables, and Moving Things at Rotary Park
In March and April, Rotary Park will be home to a new Mini Galleries exhibit, ‘Monsters, Fables, and Moving Things,’ highlighting the creative processes of six youth animators: Tamila, Henry, Sean, Ashlynn, Sterling, and Sam. Presented as part of the Festival of Animated Objects in collaboration with Quickdraw Animation Society, the exhibit focuses on the transformation of everyday materials into fantastical stop-motion animations. Through stop-motion, paper cut animation, collage, claymation and many other techniques, the artists will reveal how characters, backgrounds, and stories, are built frame by frame.
“Kids of all ages are invited to our opening on Sunday, March 15,†says exhibit curator Claudia Chagoya. “We’ll create a new puppet with a story as we tour the six galleries.â€
The opening and artist talk starts at 1:00 pm at Mini Gallery #1, close to the Rotary Lawn Bowls parking lot, off 7 Ave NE.
Crescent Heights and the Festival of Animated Objects would like to thank CADA (Calgary Arts Development) for supporting this project.
