Hello Crescent Heights!

Community is a powerful thing – it can go beyond knowing our neighbours and it’s wonderful when we can work together to make the community better.

A big thank you to everyone who volunteered for our CHCA casino last month. This event involved many residents who stepped up to work lengthy and late shifts. With the help of these volunteers, we raised funds that will support our many community initiatives and programs. Also, a thank you to Tia who took on the task of coordinating the volunteer group for us.

The weather is warming and it’s time for some community spring cleaning.

With the snow gone, let’s remember to take the opportunity to clean up our laneways – making them a safe and inviting space for us to move through.

You can save a trip to the landfill for items that do not fit in waste and recycling carts by taking advantage of the CHCA Community Cleanup that will be held in the parking lot at the community centre on May 18. Go to calgary.ca/cleanup for more info on what is accepted at the cleanup.

You can also spend some fun and productive time outdoors helping clean up our beautiful river valley and pathways. The McHugh Bluff Cleanup is scheduled for May 4 and the annual Pathway and River Cleanup will be held on May 5.

And a reminder that Saturday, May 4 has an exciting line-up of events for the community:

• Jane’s Walk will depart at 11:00 am from CHCA community centre.

• Mini Galleries will have its new exhibit opening/artist walk at 1:00 pm in Rotary Park.

• CHCA Heritage Celebration runs from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the CHCA community centre.

More info on all these happenings can be found at crescentheightsyyc.ca.

Let’s work together to make Crescent Heights better!

Marie
