HVCA Update on the Duck Pond Playground

After several years of fundraising, the HVCA’s H2 Spaces Project team has raised all the funds needed to rebuild the playground known as the Duck Pond (Hidden CIR and Hidden Valley Heights).

The project team hosted community engagement to determine what type of equipment will be installed. In collaboration with the City and Parks Foundation Calgary, construction will commence this coming fall, 2024.

Special thanks to former HVCA board members Sarah P., Elizabeth W., Jenn C., Neil C., and all our community members who participated in our fundraising efforts.

Hidden Hut Mural

Our previous hardworking HVCA boards came up with a plan and a theme of how to beautify the Hidden Hut. The theme was pollination and the plan of how and who to paint the Hut had been in discussion and in the works for many years. After a revitalization of the board, we were able to put their amazing plan into place with a generous grant from the Calgary Flames Foundation. With great luck, one of our board members happened to be friends with a very up and coming local artist by the name of Erin Conn. Erin has been featured in many art galleries, routinely hired by the Calgary Stampede, the City of Calgary, and many more. She has been noted in magazines as “an artist to watch”. By chance she also happened to have family that have lived in our community for many years. We are incredibly lucky to have her art on our walls.

We cannot thank our community members enough for all the amazing words and support that we have heard since the mural has gone up. We really enjoy the pride the community is taking in it. Please make sure to take lots of great photos with it as your backdrop and tag #HVCA, #HiddenHut, or #HiddenValleyYYC.

We have so many exciting things to come for our community, so please make sure to keep watch. Better yet, join the excitement by signing up to volunteer and/or buy a membership. We really look forward to making this a community you are proud to call home.

Here is what Erin had to say about her experience in our community:

“Thank you, Hidden Valley community, for embracing my bright mural filled with colourful nature and pollination. It was a pleasure chatting with so many wonderful members of the community and seeing the curiosity of the adorable children who stopped by. Your support and enthusiasm made this experience truly special. Thank you for allowing me to share my art with you all!

Artfully yours,

Erin Conn #HiddenValleyCommunity #GratefulArtist”

Grand Opening of the New Park at Hidden Valley School

The HVCA was super excited to attend the Friends of Hidden Valley School Society’s playground grand opening in September. A dedicated group of parent council volunteers, staff, and students spent over three years fundraising and the HVCA is proud to be one of the sponsors who supported this project. Community members also showed their support by making individual direct donations towards the project. It’s amazing what our community can do when we help each other out!

The Rink

The Hidden Valley Community Association would like to thank all its residents for being patient while the outdoor hockey rink boards were being replaced. The board work has been completed and is looking amazing. The HVCA would like to thank The City of Calgary, Calgary Parks Foundation, The Calgary Flames Foundation, and all other organizations that worked together to get this work done! The new rink boards have been installed and the HVCA hockey rink is back open and ready for the snow to fly so that we can have a great outdoor rink! Stay tuned for events and activities this winter!
