Hi Kincora,

I am very pleased to announce the KCA is moving forward with what one would consider our “normal” calendar of events for 2022. Please check our Facebook page, website, and of course this newsletter for continued updates. We have our Earth Day Litter Pickup, Parade of Garage Sales, City of Calgary Community Cleanup, and the return of our Stampede Breakfast in mid July currently in the works. For those who are maybe new to Kincora or just need a quick refresher; litter pickup is making Kincora look clean, garage sales are to help your house get clean, and the cleanup is to ensure anything missed gets clean! Our Stampede Breakfast is by far the biggest event we hold each year in the community; breakfast, bouncy houses, petting zoo, outdoor playground, music, sponsors, and all the fun of Stampede. Please note these events are not “free” and the KCA needs your support, whether that be by purchasing your $20 yearly membership or becoming a sponsor at one of these events. If you have a business that needs access to 2000 local neighbours, the KCA is your gateway to that. Reach out to me below for more details.

A quick reminder that the KCA has partnered with Calgary Blizzards Soccer Club to bring soccer right into our neighbourhood. From April to June, they will run programming in the Kincora Soccer fields for kids ages 4 to 9 (there’s still time to sign up if you’re reading this). If your children are older, they can still join Blizzards and play just up Stoney Trail at the Inland Fields by Spy Hill. This programming is low cost, requires no volunteer commitment, and directly supports the KCA. Every family that signs up for soccer will receive an annual KCA membership as part of their fees. Visit https://calgaryblizzard.com/ for more details.

Lastly the KCA board is made up of volunteers right here in the community, your neighbours and friends. Our board will have four openings for new board members at our upcoming AGM. We have multiple roles to fill but understand that as a volunteer board, we can find a role you can be happy in. We meet once a month for about 90 minutes and your commitment outside of that is based on your availability. With our increased event schedule, we need help! The board is responsible for decision planning and finances, not direct event volunteering. If you want more information or would be interested in learning more about the board, I’m happy to chat with you.

Happy Spring!
