Kincora’s June Message from the President

Hi Kincora,

We want to take a moment to thank all of the wonderful volunteers that took part in our spring events, like our community garage sale, the community cleanup, and our hugely successful Earth Day Litter Pickup. We had 96 volunteers come out for that event! Taking pride in where we live and our environment has so many benefits, never mind making the community look great.

Unfortunately, we are not going to be able to hold our Annual Stampede Breakfast yet again, hopefully, this is our last year off, but we are going to move ahead with our second Canada Day Parade! We’ll have a number of ways for you to take part. One is to decorate your house and be out front to wave at the parade (red and white of course). Another option is if you’re a small or large local business who wants to be “in” the parade, please contact our Director of Events Mindy Chattha at [email protected]. And lastly, be sure to share photos and videos of the event on our Facebook page!

Our neighbours on the Homeowners Association Board (the KRA) will be holding their annual AGM June 10. With current guidelines, it will most likely be online, so be sure to check their website to take part (www.kincoraresidents.org). We work very closely with the KRA on a number of initiatives in the community, but we are technically two separate entities and two separate boards. The quickest way to think about it is: The KRA manages landscaping and beautifying Kincora, and the KCA is the social committee.

Lastly, once a month the KCA has partnered with the Community Food Truck Group to hold a food truck rally in the Kincora fields by the Symons Valley United Church. We’ll have up to ten trucks from 4:00 to 7:30 pm, all the way through October, once a month. Be sure to check our website and Facebook for the schedule details. The Food Truck Group has agreed to sponsor the KCA as part of this sponsorship, so we want to make sure that as many Kincorans as possible get to support them! (Plus, you don’t have to make dinner).

As always, if you have any questions or comments, I’m always happy to hear from you.

Travis Merrick

President
