Kincora’s November President’s Message

Hi Kincora,

Where does the time go, it feels like we were just admiring our beautiful planters and greenery in and around Kincora and head right into winter. For all of those that came to help out with our rink build day at the end of October, thank you so much! The KCA is a fully volunteer run organization and without the support of our community and neighbours, attractions like this just can’t happen. Hopefully we’ll get the ice in place in early December again! Keep an eye on Facebook, the website, and of course just driving by the rink for updates! Please remind all of your family members the “open/ closed” sign is meant to be obeyed for everyone’s safety and to maintain the quality of the ice.

After a number of years on our board as both Past President and Treasurer, Drew Englot had to step down from our board. First off thank you Drew for your commitment to our community; volunteering is a highly rewarding activity, and we appreciate you raising your hand when the KCA needed you. However, as he steps down as our Treasurer, we need a new Treasurer ASAP! If you have financial experience, it is beneficial but not required. We would like to get a new Treasurer in place before the New Year to keep our books balanced. If you are interested in joining the KCA Board as our Treasurer, please contact me below. This is a volunteer position that takes a few hours per month at our monthly meeting.

I had promised an update in our last newsletter about the outcome of our proposal to the Joint Use Committee about changing the designation of the Kincora Fields to a space where we could bring in a number of amenities. We did present to the committee, but as of this writing, we have not been given a decision on the outcome. As soon as we hear back, the KCA will share that info with the community.

Lastly, thank you to all of our retired and current service members. And we remember all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Remembrance Day is an important day in our household as my Father-in-Law Stewart Kearsley served thirty five years with the Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry. Be sure to take the time to reflect on what a great Country we live in thanks to the sacrifices of others.

Lest we forget,

Travis Merrick

President
