Kincora’s President’s Message for December

Hi Kincora,

As 2021 fades into the rear-view mirror, the KCA is looking forward to 2022. Being primarily an event driven organization, we hope the new year allows us to be front and center back in our community. First up is our skating rink, which should come alive sometime here early in December. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and the open/ closed sign out in the field to see when we open up. We do ask you not to “test” the ice yourself. We promise as soon as it’s ready we will have it open, fixing holes in the ice from people walking on it doesn’t help anyone.

Our proposal to the JUCC committee about making our Kincora Fields an amenity space was initially declined. However, with a new City Councillor and Public School Trustee, the KCA will be re-addressing this with them and hopefully re-engage the JUCC committee in early 2022. The KCA would like to work with the KRA on bringing a sport court, community garden, and our ping pong table to this area in the near future, as although it’s a “future” school site, it’s highly unlikely Kincora as a finished community will ever be granted one.

In 2021, the KCA ran our skating rink, parade of garage sales, community clean up, Earth Day clean up, Canada Day parade, Labor Day BBQ, and our six food truck events. We hope to add to this in 2022, but we need the community’s support! Whether that’s by purchasing your 2022 yearly membership for $20 at Kincora.org or submitting the form in this newsletter to our mailbox. How about joining our board? At present we have four openings on our board which we would like to fill up. Please contact me below for information on joining the board. And lastly, by either sponsoring or partnering with the KCA on our events. The KCA likes to work with local businesses like Home Sweet Home Realty, Royal Pizza Sage Hill, Sage Hill Bottle Depot, Soul Connexion, Calgary Co-op, Calgary Blizzards Soccer, and Beacon Hill Home Depot. These local businesses are owned and staffed by your neighbours, and we want to make sure we continue to support those businesses which support our community.

Have a safe and happy holiday no matter how you celebrate. Thanks for a great 2021 Kincora and we look forward to 2022!

Travis Merrick
