With plans for a multipurpose/hockey rink, playground, a picnic area equipped with fire pits, tennis courts, bike track, and outdoor amphitheatre, Symons Valley Park will be a community-based recreational destination for residents of Kincora, Nolan Hill, Sage Hill and Sherwood to enjoy.
This past fall we successfully hosted our first Family Fun Day, introducing the concept of our park, while providing a day filled with numerous fun-filled activities and performances.
In early 2020, we entered a partnership with Parks Foundation Calgary to administer our project funds. This relationship will enable us to manage our funds responsibly, as well as connect our project to an established network of resources familiar with developing projects similar to ours.
How can you help?
We’re planning to start construction in two to three years. To stay on schedule, we’re looking for people with skills and experience in the following areas:
Board of Directors: We are recruiting additional members to our board. Made up of persons who live in one of our four communities, our board is responsible for making decisions regarding our park.
Project Development: The committee ensures the organization has an effective project management process to ensure the effective use of project funding and ensure compliance with all regulations and requirements.
Fund Development: The committee will provide guidance and direction to the Board for efforts on obtaining funding from all levels of government, corporate and private donors.
Communications and Marketing: The committee will deliver effective communications activities to ensure the Board and membership is well-informed on matters affecting the Society.
Finance and Audit: The committee will be responsible for policy research and development of organizational policies such as charitable donations, audit, financial reporting, accountability and investment.
