One of the best things about living in Parkdale is the sense of community—and sometimes, all it takes is one simple gathering to turn familiar faces into friendly neighbours. A block party is an easy and fun way to bring people together, build connections, and strengthen the community we all call home.
Block parties don’t have to be complicated. They can be as simple as a few tables set up on the sidewalk or in a driveway, neighbours bringing snacks to share, kids playing together, and conversations flowing. Whether it’s a casual afternoon meet-and-greet, a summer BBQ, or a potluck, the goal is connection—getting to know the people who live just down the street.
The Parkdale Community Association (PCA) is here to help make hosting a block party easy and stress-free. We can support residents by helping you get started with planning, offering tips and ideas, and guiding you through the permit application process if your event requires one (such as a temporary road closure). You don’t need event-planning experience—just a willingness to bring people together.

When neighbours know one another, it’s easier to look out for each other, share resources, and build a sense of belonging for families, seniors, and newcomers alike.
