Did You Know? Our Outdoor Rink Runs on Volunteers

The outdoor skating rink is one of Parkdale’s favourite winter gathering spots—a place to skate, play hockey, and enjoy the fresh air with friends and family. But did you know the rink wouldn’t be possible without an amazing team of volunteers?

Volunteers are at the heart of keeping the rink running smoothly all season long. They help clear snow after winter storms, flood the ice to keep it smooth and safe, open the rink in the morning, and lock it up at night. It’s hands-on work, but it’s also incredibly rewarding—and yes, volunteers even get to ride the Zamboni!

Thanks to these dedicated community members, the rink stays in great shape and ready for everyone to enjoy. Whether it’s an early morning flood or a late-night lock-up, our volunteers show up so the whole neighbourhood can skate.

We truly love and appreciate our rink volunteers, and we’re always happy to welcome more helping hands. You don’t need special skills—just a bit of time, warm clothes, and a willingness to pitch in. It’s a great way to meet neighbours, give back to the community, and be part of something fun.

If you’re interested in getting involved or want more information about volunteering at the rink, please reach out to us at [email protected].
