Did you know that the Fine Arts (Music, Art, Dance, and Drama) foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills that are valuable in all areas of life? They also help children develop emotional expression and cultural awareness, encourage empathy, boost academic performance, and enhance communication skills. That’s why St. Rita teachers place such an emphasis on Fine Arts education.
Recently, our students got to dig deeper into the curriculum with opportunities like choir, dance residencies, and the art expertise of their teachers. Choral singing is an extracurricular activity for grades 3 to 6 that builds students’ confidence and music skills. The dance residency week focused on hip hop, Latin, and Afrobeats, and ended in a groovy performance for parents! Visual Art is taught as a discipline, and is also integrated throughout the curriculum, resulting in students retaining information better and improving performance in other subjects.
