That time of year is almost here! Start cleaning out those basements and garages! We will have our annual Community Cleanup on May 23, 2026.
We’re excited to once again partner with the City of Calgary for our annual Community Cleanup. There will be City garbage trucks on site, metal recycling, and a donation truck to help keep as much as possible out of the landfill. We’ll also be collecting non-perishable food items for the Ranchlands Food Pantry, so as you’re cleaning out the garage, take a peek in your cupboards too!
Community Cleanups are meant for those larger household items that don’t fit in your black cart, like old furniture, lumber, carpets, broken recreational equipment, sinks, toilets, and similar bulky items.
Some things can’t be accepted, including electronics, metal, barbecues, lawnmowers, glass, appliances containing freon (like fridges and freezers), microwaves, liquids, chemicals, hazardous waste, sod or dirt, yard waste, recyclables, and commercial waste. If you’re unsure, please check with us before you come, as accepted items can vary depending on space and vendors.
We’re also looking for six adult volunteers to help make this event happen. It’s a fun way to spend a few hours outside, meet neighbours, get a little exercise, get up close to a garbage truck and we’ll even feed you! Kids are welcome to volunteer alongside their parents, making it a great opportunity to pitch in together and show them what community spirit looks like.
