Marching Into Spring

Spring will be upon us shortly after you receive this newsletter – all depends on what you put your faith in on Groundhog Day. Early spring? Late spring? Regardless of when it comes, spring will inspire opportunities to beautify our personal outdoor spaces and our community outdoor spaces. We have had members of the community attend our board meetings in the past couple of months with ideas and suggestions to keep our neighbourhood looking good. Reasonable, simple things like a coat of paint on our Ranchlands sign (in the works), recommending a coat of paint on the fences that are public facing, keeping weeds under control, and some simple decorative gardens for you and your neighbours to enjoy are suggestions for individuals and businesses. When we take pride in our community, small things can make a bit difference. If you have an idea, we would love to hear about it. Please email [email protected] and might be able to include it in the April edition of the Roundup. There might even be a prize for really creative ideas!

You will see that our volunteer CRA Tax Preparation program is underway. Thanks to our treasurer Bukola, along with staff and board members, we are pleased to offer this service. Please watch our Facebook page and our website for information on how to access the service.

Calgary Police Service representatives regularly attend our board meetings to provide information about any crime events (they are very few) along with information about traffic issues. There is a workforce that will help us to alleviate any risky or dangerous places where engineering changes will make our neighbourhood safer.

Our Ward 2 Alderman’s office along with our City of Calgary Neighbourhood Partner Coordinator are a wealth of knowledge – and they also attend our meetings to give us information and insights. The Ward 2 survey has reported that 82% of us feel safe walking in our neighbourhoods. Let’s keep that going by looking our for each other, reporting things of a bylaw nature through 3-1-1, and vandalism to the non-emergency police line at 403-266-1234 or on the CPS website. Our association also appreciates knowing your concerns – you can email the office at [email protected] or me at [email protected].

Happy spring!
