Mixed Media Collection by Lola Thomson, Canadian Certified Counsellor, age 34

In the December Gazette issue, we featured a piece titled Inner Child Healing created by fellow Tuxedo Park resident Lola Thomson. She has completed her series with four more powerful mixed media creations. We’ve included descriptions of each work below. Thank you to Lola for sharing more of her inspiring work with us!

Acrylic Paint

This piece marks a stage of liberation. As my first freehand painting, it draws together elements from earlier works to express the act of speaking up and standing in my truth—without masks. The bright, bold colours reflect my zest for life and my growing comfort in being seen fully and unapologetically.

Mixed Media

This piece explores the necessity of honesty in healing. We cannot heal from trauma if we do not first acknowledge its presence. By connecting with a fearless heart and an inner fire, this work reflects the beginning of a long and intentional journey toward authenticity, self-understanding, and repair.

Mixed Media

This piece reflects the power that emerges through healing in community, particularly among women. It speaks to the strength found when we gather, hold space for one another, and witness each other’s growth. Through this collective support, we come to understand that we don’t always need a defined path to arrive exactly where we are meant to be.

Acrylic Paint

This piece is my first painting following my autism diagnosis. It represents an openness with the world about my neurodivergent experience and a decision to lean fully into a special interest without hiding or making myself smaller for the comfort of others. This work is an expression of self-acceptance, visibility, and reclaimed identity.
