Hello and happy August! I wanted to give the community another brief update on what I have been up to for the past few months as the Arts Procurement Manager for the TPCA.
On Neighbour Day, we kicked off the new fence project which will add colour and visual appeal along Centre Street East between 29 and 30 Avenues. Thank you to all the community and board members that joined artist Larissa Schuler to paint the shapes and letters that will be installed on the fence.
Thanks to grant funding from Calgary Arts Development, the TPCA is also moving forward with the mural project that will live on the southwest side of the Community Association Hall. By the time you read this, they will be preparing to start the mural painting process. If you are interested in learning more and painting with them, we invite you to join us for:
Mural Artists: Hands on Mural/Graffiti Workshop
• Friday, August 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
• Location: Westside of hall building (facing the playground) or lower hall (if raining)
Come participate in a live hands-on mural and graffiti art workshop with Kerzeka! Attendees will have the opportunity to collaborate with the artists in the creation of a 4×8 foot piece of art and learn about the techniques used in the creation of the TPCA mural. Free for all who attend, and supplies will be provided. Please RSVP to [email protected] by Friday, August 15.
The plan is to have both of these projects finalized by the end of the summer with an unveiling event in early fall – stay tuned for more details! Thank you all again for the continued support and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to [email protected].
