Winter Carnival Recap

Thank you to everyone who came down to the annual Winter Carnival! It was a great day packed with family fun. Thank you to everyone who came out to volunteer and help run the show! Our volunteers helped run the different food stands, cake raffle, and carnival games. A special thank you to the stars of the event, the aerial performers from En L’air Academy! Thank you to Hammer Hill Stables for providing the horse and carriage rides around the ARC, and thank you to Jelly’s Creations, Sweet & Floral Sisters, and Real Canadian Superstore for sponsoring this year’s cake raffle! We can’t wait to see everyone again next year!

Velvet Midway Recap

We had a fun, lively night at our brand new, adult-only event! There were aerial and roaming performances from Cirque de la Nuit, and we put together a special pop-up bar with cocktails curated for the carnival theme of Velvet Midway. Special thank you to Pro Motion for sponsoring this event! We are continuing to work on bringing in a bunch of new events just like this one, so we hope you are just as excited as we are for what’s to come next! Thank you to everyone who came to Velvet Midway and helped us usher in this new era of programming!

Easter Egg Hunt – April 4, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

We are excited to bring back the kids’ Easter egg hunt for its fifth consecutive year at the Addison Place Playground (8523 Addison Dr SE). We will have crafts, outdoor games, glitter tattoos, and of course, the egg hunt!

This event is free for members | $5 per child for non-members.

Bring your basket and all your energy for a fun filled morning!

Grassroots Soccer is Growing (U4 to U12, April 27 to June 17)

Our grassroots soccer program continues to be a staple of ACA programming. Our program is a great way for your kids to stay active, socialize, and learn new skills!

New this year – we will be holding additional Saturday skills clinics for U8 to U12 as an optional add-on. Visit acadiaca.com/soccer to learn more and register before all the spots fill up!

We are still in need of coaches for this season! If you have previous coaching experience or are looking to get involved in the local athletics scene, please reach out to [email protected]. Our coaches’ clinic will be held on April 19, so reach out before then to make sure you’re fully prepared by the start of the season.

New! Junior Leadership Soccer Program (Ages 13 to 18)

We are launching a new youth leadership initiative designed to mentor and develop young leaders in our community.

Junior coaches will support U4 to U12 teams, lead drills and activities, build leadership and coaching skills, and contribute to year-end events. If that is something you or your child would be interested in, reach out to [email protected].

New! Adult Soccer League (18+ Co-Ed)

We are starting up an 18+ co-ed casual soccer league! The weekly kick-about will happen in the fields located behind the ARC. We are really excited to be expanding our soccer program offerings, and we hope to see you there getting active and socializing with us! To learn more and register, visit acadiaca.com/adultsoccer.

National Volunteer Week – April 19 to 25

Volunteers are the heartbeat of the ACA.

During National Volunteer Week, we recognize and celebrate the individuals who power our events, programs, and community initiatives. The ACA puts on a Volunteer Appreciation event each year and presents the annual Volunteer of the Year award to one exceptionally dedicated volunteer. If you participated with us for any event, initiative, or committee, please watch your emails for a personal invitation to this event to celebrate you!

Community Cleanup – May (Date TBA)

Declutter responsibly and support community sustainability. The City of Calgary will provide trucks for free garbage and recycling drop-off. We will also be accepting donations of books, clothing, and toys. Get started on spring cleaning and declutter with us! Stay tuned for the official date and more details at acadiaca.com/events.

Bike Parade – May 30

Kick off Bike Month with us at the ARC. Decorate your bike, learn about bike and road safety, and join a short group ride around Acadia in a fun, family-friendly celebration!

The Bike Parade is a great time to have fun, get active, and learn more about the community. For more information on this event, visit acadiaca.com/bikeparade.

Make a Difference Where You Live and Play

Beyond events, we are actively strengthening governance, operations, and leadership at the ACA. If you’ve ever considered serving on a committee, coaching, volunteering at events, or stepping into a leadership role, this is a great time to do it!
