Hello Neighbours!
Winter Carnival Recap
The Winter Carnival is our longest standing event, and we are grateful to everyone who makes it possible year after year. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers for breathing life into the carnival and making sure it runs smoothly. Our community events would be nothing without your continued dedication. Thank you to Oxford Learning Centre Acadia for sponsoring this year’s carnival and helping to hand out free books to children, graciously donated by United for Literacy. A huge thank you to Seeds of Success Early Learning for facilitating the children’s craft activities out of their beautiful childcare space located in the ARC! We would also like to give a very big thank you to everyone who donated delectable treats for the bake sale! In addition to the amazing community members who contributed, we would like to extend thanks to Good Bread and Calgary Co-Op Macleod for their cake donations as well! We hope to see you all again next year!
Annual Easter Egg Hunt
The Easter Bunny will be making their way to Addison Place Playground this year on April 19 to hide some Easter eggs! Bring your own basket to participate in our fourth annual Easter Egg Hunt between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. There will be basket decorating, food trucks, and prizes for the egg hunters! This is one of our most popular events of the year! Pre-registration is required for any egg hunters, and spots are limited and fill up really fast! You can sign up your little ones at acadiaca.com/easter. Participation is free for all ACA members, and $5 per child for non-members.
Grassroots Soccer Program
This is the last chance to sign up for our spring soccer program! Registrations close on April 4. Grassroots soccer is a great place for kids to make new friends, learn new skills, and have lots of fun! We aim to develop kids’ physical fitness levels and team playing skills, and to foster a culture of inclusivity and collaboration within the community. The program is for ages 3 to 12 and will run from April to June. We are also seeking more individuals to get involved by helping coach the teams and run the program. To learn more about Grassroots Soccer, how your child can participate, and how to get involved, visit acadiaca.com/soccer.
Community Cleanup
The annual community cleanup will be coming May 10! There will be free drop off for garbage and recycling in the ARC parking lot. Donations of old goods like books, clothing, and toys are also welcome! Declutter before summer begins and help keep the community of Acadia clean. Stay tuned at acadiaca.com/events for more information.
Bike Parade
Kick off bike month on May 31 with the ACA annual bike parade! Decorate your bike with balloons and streamers and join in on a group ride around Acadia. The bike parade is a great time to have fun, get active, and learn about the community. For more information on this event, visit acadiaca.com/events.
New Soccer Program Coordinator Needed!
We are still in need of a soccer coordinator to oversee our amazing program! This is such an important and rewarding role and is crucial to keeping our soccer program running. If we are unable to fill it, it puts this great program at risk. Please reach out to [email protected] if you would like to learn more about this opportunity.
Volunteer With The ACA
Our incredible and dedicated volunteers are what make the ACA and all of its programs and events possible. We are always looking for more people who want to give back to the community, and there are a bunch of ways to participate. Take part in your community through awesome events like the annual Winter Carnival or consider joining the board of directors. Volunteering opportunities are always available within Acadia Community as well. Check out our website acadia.community/volunteer for more details.
