Hello Neighbours! We hope you’ve been enjoying this amazing summer we’ve been having! We’re running full speed into more events, so stay tuned!
Stampede Breakfast on Sunday, July 9
What a hoot and a half it was to see all of you who came to this year’s Stampede Breakfast! We had a memorable time on account of the classic food, live performances, dancing, games, and all-round merriment. Not to mention a special welcome from the Stampede Caravan and a visit from Harry the Horse that brought a real western flair to the occasion. We had over 760 people attend this community event and our small but mighty volunteer team pulled together to make sure we could serve everyone. We know it was a hot day and appreciate everyone’s patience as we did what we could to accommodate everyone’s needs. With that, we want to take the opportunity to say that the success of our offerings for the community are 100% reliant on volunteers. If you are able to volunteer or would like to learn more about how you can contribute, please email [email protected]. We do want to continue being able to bring great events to Acadia!
A huge thank you to our generous sponsors: Ward 11 Councillor Kourtney Penner, the Stampede Caravan, Keepin’ It Country Line Dancers, and ATCO!
First Annual Bike Parade
Acadians of all ages will be lining up on August 19 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm to ride from the ARC to the Acadia Shopping Centre. There will be activities, fun crafts, and select materials for people to decorate their bikes for the parade. What’s more, we will be showcasing our first community bike repair stations in tandem with bike tune-up demos. Riders will also learn about landmarked heritage sites throughout Acadia and collect stamps in their ‘bike passport” in exchange for some swag! Get in gear and pedal here!
Celebrating our Amazing Volunteers
On August 27, we’re inviting all current ACA volunteers and their families to our Volunteer Appreciation BBQ to celebrate the amazing people who make what we do as a community association possible! If you have been an active volunteer with the ACA over the past year, please watch your email inbox for an invitation to this event. We look forward to recognizing your time and commitment at this fun gathering!
ACA Social Night
We are dedicated to fostering community with our membership and neighbours. Next month on September 14, come out and meet your ACA board members at this casual get together in the ARC Social Lounge. Enjoy refreshments, board games, and conversation from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Fresh Routes Farm Stand Program
In partnership with The City of Calgary and your Acadia community association, Fresh Routes has launched a weekly farm stand that is open on Saturdays from 1:30 to 3:30 pm in front of the Acadia Recreation Complex until mid-October. Fresh Routes is a not-for-profit social enterprise that brings healthy, fresh, and affordable food into communities across Calgary. Many of their fresh produce options are grown by Albertan farmers. Stop by, meet the Fresh Routes team, and take home some local ingredients for your meals! To learn more about the program visit www.calgary.ca/localfood.
