Neighbour Day 2025!
Despite the less-than-ideal weather, Neighbour Day in Acadia was an incredible success! Huge thanks to McDougall United Church for stepping up at the last minute to host us indoors and keep the spirit of the day alive. Neighbour Day is all about coming together and supporting one another and McDougall United truly embodied that spirit, showing just how strong and connected our community really is.
We were thrilled to support the Acadia Food Pantry by encouraging attendees to bring non-perishable food items. Thank you to everyone who contributed!
A big highlight of the day was seeing our local leaders – Mayor Jyoti Gondek, Ward 11 Councillor Kourtney Penner, MLA Diana Batten, and NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi – take on the obstacle course challenge. Their energy and enthusiasm added so much fun to the day!
In honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day, we were incredibly grateful to welcome Violet’s Michif Dancers, who shared their culture, stories, and incredible talent with us. It was a truly meaningful experience.
We also want to give a heartfelt shoutout to our amazing mini market vendors who braved the weather to bring their energy and offerings to the event: Energize Health South, Oxford Learning Acadia, D-Lites and Epicure, Flux Renewables, Panago Pizza MacLeod, and Canine Endeavours. And of course, a sweet thank-you to the Girl Guides, who helped us make and hand out free cotton candy to all our guests!
Rain or shine, Neighbour Day always reminds us how lucky we are to be part of such a vibrant, resilient community. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
Another Successful Parade of Garage Sales
Thank you to all of the community members that participated in this year’s Parade of Garage Sales. We had over 40 individual vendors selling pre-loved items over the two-day community-wide sale! The weather was beautiful, and the event made for a perfect opportunity for neighbours to connect and support one another. A huge thank you to Justyna Jakimowicz of Royal LePage Realty for sponsoring this event and making it possible!

Volunteer Casino Fundraiser
The ACA’s biggest fundraising opportunity of the year is coming up, and we need your help! Our Casino Fundraiser takes place on September 24 and 25 at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino, and volunteers are essential to making it a success.
No previous experience is required as you will be fully trained during your shift and supported every step of the way. Meals and snacks are also provided while you’re volunteering.
Whether you’ve worked a casino before or are trying it for the first time, we’d love to have you on board. Every role filled directly supports the ACA’s ability to continue offering programs, events, and community initiatives.

You’re Invited – ACA Annual General Meeting
Thursday, September 18, 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the ARC
Get ready for an evening of connection, community, and big reveals! Come to the meeting for a chance to hear firsthand about the exciting initiatives and bold vision shaping our next year.
Whether you’re a longtime resident or new to the neighbourhood, this is your opportunity to network with fellow community members, meet the people behind the ACA, and share your voice in shaping the future of our community. We’ll kick things off (and wrap up) with a casual networking session and light refreshments, so come early, stay late, and connect!
This year, we’ll also be electing a new Board President, Secretary, and other key leadership roles and your vote matters. To be eligible to vote, you must have an active ACA membership for at least 30 days before the meeting, so be sure to renew or sign up today!
Let’s build the future of Acadia together. We can’t wait to see you there!
Become a Board Member, Join a Committee! Make a Difference Where You Live and Play
Do you want to help shape the future of your neighbourhood? The Acadia Community Association is driven by passionate volunteers who bring our community to life through exciting events, meaningful programs, community enhancement projects and initiatives. We also own and operate the ARC which is a major facility built in the 1980s that serves as a vital hub for sports, recreation, and gathering in our neighbourhood. Keeping it running smoothly and accessible to all takes time, care, and community support. And we can’t do it without you!
As we head into a new term, we’re looking for passionate community members to join the ACA as Board Members, Committee Volunteers, and event supporters.
At the Annual General Meeting on September 18, we’ll be electing a new President and Secretary – critical leadership roles for our future.
If you’ve ever wanted to make a real impact where you live, now is the time. Whether you have a few hours a month or are ready to take on a leadership role, your contribution matters.
