Celebrating 40 Years with Ross Scott

This July marks the 40-year anniversary of when Ross started working at the Acadia Recreation Complex. Ross has been a pillar of the ARC for many years, and as everyone can attest, no one knows the building better than Ross. He has been here through many changes, renovations, trials and tribulations, but he has stuck with us through the years, and we could not possibly thank him enough for all that he does! From repairs to keeping the arena ice in tip top shape, Ross is a part of what happens. Everyone at the ARC and the ACA would like to give a big thank you to Ross Scott for his 40 years of dedicated service to the facility and the community!

Community Cleanup Recap

The 2025 Community Cleanup had a huge turn out! We are glad you could join us to make our homes and community that much tidier! We would like to thank the City of Calgary for providing packer trucks to take away garbage and recycling. We would also like to thank Little Caesars on Fairmount for providing pizza to our volunteers! Last, but certainly not least, a big thank you to everyone that volunteered this year. You make the Community Cleanup and all of our other events possible. We would be nothing without the continued support of the Acadia community, so thank you!

Stampede Breakfast

Kick off Stampede week with the community! The 2025 ACA Stampede Breakfast will be on July 5 from 9:00 to 11:00 am. It will be hosted at the ARC in the back parking lot. This year we are excited to have Generation Country, a band local to Acadia, provide us with live music! We’re also thrilled to bring back the Keepin’ It Country line dancers for a performance, whose home base is at the ARC. Bring the family to enjoy the amazing live entertainment, as well as a classic pancake breakfast, petting zoo, Western-themed games, and more! Check out acadiaca.com/stampede for more information.

Volunteer Casino Fundraiser

We will be hosting a Casino Fundraiser on September 24 and 25 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino, and we are in need of volunteers! The casino is our biggest fundraiser of the year and is critical to the ACA to help support all that we do. There are important roles that need to be filled during both dates, but rest assured that you will be well-trained, fed, and assisted throughout the event. If you have had experience working at a volunteer casino, or would like to try something new, reach out to [email protected].

Become a Board Member and Make a Difference Where You Live and Play

Our incredible and dedicated volunteers are what make the ACA and all of its programs and events possible. We are currently actively accepting nominations for the President and Secretary positions, as the term for our current leaders comes to an end this month. If you are interested in helping lead and support the ACA, please reach out to [email protected] for more information. Membership is required to vote on these positions, so if you haven’t already, be sure to grab yours!

In addition to these key leadership roles, we continue to seek volunteers to support our committees, events and initiatives.
