Hello Neighbours,

Welcome to sweater weather! With the temperature dipping down in the evenings, the inevitable snow is coming. While I am not the hugest fan of winter, there are a few winter reminders I want to share with you. First, we are excited that the outdoor rink will again be open this year! We have yet to hear about seasonal fire pit permits, but fingers crossed, they were a great addition to the outdoor space last year. Second, we have many people who utilize the sidewalks in our neighbourhood (I am always excited to see which pup is out for a walk when I am out). Let’s keep shoveling walks top of mind for all our neighbours; if you require assistance, please let the board know. We often have offers come to us from people who’d like to help out! Last, a reminder about starting your car to warm it up. An empty, running car makes it a target for those looking to steal vehicles. Calgary Police Services run Operation Cold Start in November/December to help raise awareness of how quickly someone can be in and out of your car. If you are warming up a car, it’s highly encouraged to lock the vehicle if possible.

We are finally planning in person events, which means we are starting to look for volunteers! December 11 and 12 we require volunteers for our Casino, please email the board for details if you are able to volunteer. We are also looking for those interested in helping out with a Christmas event, and Brewfest (a craft beer event) early in the upcoming year.

I would like to apologize to any of those who may have shown up for the AGM in-person in September, to find out it had been rescheduled. We had posted the information both in the building, on our outpost signage, and on our social media channels- but as we know many of you get this info in the newsletter- reaching out by this method wasn’t an option. With the Restrictions Exemption Program announced only days prior to our meeting – it was not possible to have everything in place to accommodate the new rules, restrictions, and implement our protocol in such a short period of time. Our rescheduled AGM is set for Tuesday, November 30 at 7:00 pm and we hope you can join us then! If something changes, and in person is not feasible, it will move to a fully online AGM.

As always, I encourage you to join our Facebook and Instagram page @AcadiaToday to keep up to date with neat new initiatives. We would also love to hear from you; send us your ideas of what you would like to see and do in our neighbourhood. How can you get a hold of us? It’s easy, email us at [email protected].
