Acadia’s September Message from the Board

Hello Neighbours,

It is hard to believe that summer has come to an end, and fall is upon us. Our summer event line-up looked a lot different this year. Unable to host our usual Neighbour Day Block Party, Stampede BBQ, or Parade of Garage Sales, we saw adaptive and innovative events. June’s Neighbour Day Front Lawn Picnic was well enjoyed on many blocks. The Stampede poster colouring contest brought vibrancy and pops of colours to windows. Lastly, while we couldn’t have a Parade of Garage Sales, I sure hope if you needed any short-term items, you were able to take advantage of Ruckify and rent from neighbours online! The events of this summer were what individuals made of it, and we sure hope you enjoyed them.

As this goes to print, it appears kids will have the option to resume school, businesses can start opening up with fewer restrictions, and the ‘slowing down’ period of a global pandemic, hopefully, is behind us. I was thrilled to see more neighbours out (socially distanced) walking, smiling, and waving as passing down the sidewalks, and of course, the overall Acadian spirit showing up in front windows and lawn displays. I encourage you to keep up these neighbourly habits!

Fall also happens to bring the Acadia Community Association AGM. We need you to be watching for signs, emails, and our website about how/where the event will be hosted. It is currently slated to happen on September 24, at 7:00 pm. Like all organizations, we continue to be agile and adjust our plans as needed with the COVID-19 restrictions, bylaws, and best practices.

Cheers,

Erika Topola
