Did you know you can grow fresh produce right in your own backyard? One of Acadia’s longtime residents, Marg Hennan, grew a beefsteak tomato that weighed 1 lbs and 12 oz! That very tomato is pictured below, and it looks incredible! She grew it over the summer in her garden, harvested it in the fall, and ended up using the tomato to make a delicious batch of homemade salsa!
It’s never too late to pick up a new hobby, and gardening is a great way to connect with nature and save some money, especially in a time when grocery prices have climbed so high. If you don’t already have your own garden, you can even rent a grow bed in Acadia’s Community Garden along 94 Avenue. Nothing tastes quite as good as a meal made with produce grown with love!
