Good Food Box Program Details
We would like to take a moment to thank everyone who was able to attend the AGM online. We appreciate you taking the time out to help ensure that the CA can continue to operate – as the City and Alberta government require that we host the meeting and that we have quorum. And considering that we only need eight community members to attend, the fact that we only just had quorum again this year speaks volumes. It was a super busy year for the CA, and it is one of the primary times that we update all the community on what initiatives we are working on.
So, we have a few changes to the ABCA board: I am now doing dual duty as President and Sports and Events, Erica M. is doing dual duty as Vice President and Communications/Social Media, Leanna M. continues to be our Secretary, and Tiffany W. is our Treasurer. Jackie D. has stepped down from Fundraising and is now a Director at Large.
We have updated the website showing a couple of the positions that we are working towards filling. And in the meantime, I am working towards finding someone to take a larger role in the community gardens and events, as I really know how important they are and am not finding as much time to work on things.
If you know of another local group/organization that could use the CA’s support, please ensure to have them reach out to us. We will do our best to help out wherever we can.
If you missed out on the extra discount for the Eagle Lake Nursery – Yellow Bag is still offering $5 off any mulch/soil bags using the code ABAY25. More details are posted on our website and social media.
Our new 55+ group continues to grow, so please ensure to share their information with others within the community that might be interested in socializing with other residents. They can be found on Facebook, by phone at 403-744-5301, ext. 3, or by email at [email protected] for more information.
The final two spots have been added to the community gardens, bringing us up to 36 large and 16 small. For the near future we have paused replacing the large beds with steel ones. Our hope is to raise the necessary support and funds to build a larger shelter on the site to host events and programs. Deer Ridge CA built one last year and are expecting it to be well used by the community. Want more information? Please feel free to reach out to us.
The Community Kitchen Good Food Box program continues to grow each month and is a great opportunity to get affordable and delicious produce. Thank you to Shannon W. for offering to be the pickup point for our depot. You can now get a small box (approximately 20 to 25lbs) for $30, medium (30 to 35lbs) for $35, or large (40 to 45lbs) for $40, delivered to Auburn Bay once a month. Please check out the post on our website for the Google form to place your order. The next one will be May 5 for May 16 delivery.
