Deer Ridge Family Skate Day
The Deer Ridge Family Skate Day was held on Saturday, January 11, and we would like to thank everyone who came out to have a bit of cold-weather fun with us – your participation and enjoyment are what makes this a good time for everyone.
A great big shout out to the volunteers who worked hard to make this a great event –
- the rink crew who worked for weeks to ensure there was great skating
- the organizing committee who ensured that there were tables for the refreshments, drinks and hot dogs for everyone, and a cozy fire to warm up by
- the volunteers who barbecued, served at the event, and cleaned up afterward.
It takes a great team to put on a great event, and you are appreciated!
Special recognition goes out to Deer Ridge Starbucks who helped out with hot chocolate and provided the great coffee we so enjoyed. Thank you for your strong community involvement and for coming through for us this year, again!
Deer Ridge Ice Rinks
The rinks are open daily, and you are invited to come and skate. There are 2 rinks – one for shinny hockey and the other for pleasure skating and learning. The rinks will stay open as long as the weather holds, and the ice can be maintained. So, plan to make skating a part of your and your family’s fun and active lifestyle in Deer Ridge this winter.
We also appreciate anyone who would like to volunteer to help maintain the rinks. We have a very dedicated crew for this daily job and assistance is appreciated. Email us at [email protected] to let us know you would like to help.
Request for Casino Volunteers
Our major fundraising casino will be held on Monday, April 6, and Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Cash Casino Place. Volunteers are needed to fill various positions. Day shifts are 11:00 am to 7:30 pm. Evening shifts is 7:00 pm to 3:30 am. Count room is 11:00 pm to 3:30 am.
This is a great opportunity to meet your neighbours and help ensure AGLC funding is available to the community for facilities and programs such as ice rinks, tennis courts, replacement of aging playgrounds, youth programs, and special events, like Movie at Yellow Slide Park.
Training is provided for the many available shifts. Meals are no expense to the volunteer and transportation is available, if needed. Please contact us to volunteer at [email protected].

Deer Ridge Community Association Memberships are available for purchase anytime online or by filling out the form in the Deer Ridge Journal newsletter delivered to your mailbox. Membership is still only $15.00 and applies to all residents of the same household.

Deer Ridge Community Association Monthly Meeting
Please come and join us at the monthly meetings. You’ll hear the latest news from representatives of the provincial and municipal governments, the Calgary City Police, and your local community association, and you’ll have an opportunity to let your thoughts be heard.
Would you like to volunteer on the Board? We really do need you; we have funds available for activities and programs, but need volunteers to make them happen. Do you have suggestions for activities and programs you would like to have in the community?
