Happy Holidays neighbours. A huge thank you to everyone that supported our first ever online Christmas initiative honouring our beautiful neighbour Alacia. The Children’s Link was so grateful to be able to ensure Santa had a gift for every child in their program. As we all try to navigate these trying times, some are facing more struggles than others. The generosity of our community helped make Christmas a little merrier for each of these amazing children and their families.

The Book Drive for Books Between Friends was also a fun way to share our literary gems for children and teens with others. This amazing organization takes all dollars raised from purchased donated books to support a variety of charities in Calgary.

In October, Bonavista Cares and Parkland Cares, donated 12 large boxes of food and $1300 to the Veterans Association Food Bank. What amazing communities we live in! A fun fact is the Veterans Association Food Bank is an organization that is run by Veterans for Veterans. There is also the Calgary Food Bank and the Veterans Food Bank. How wonderful that our community was able to support three amazing charities during October with our local groomer donating much needed pet food to the Calgary Food Bank, and our local pet store donating pet supplies to the Veteran’s Food Bank!

Please join us in January for our first ever virtual Bonavista Cares meeting where we will come together to see what the next months will look like for our community – it will involve some more fun initiatives as well as some good community bonding. For more information, email [email protected], or check out our Facebook Page.

As we go into a new year, we are wishing all of our neighbours, and really all of the communities in the world, a safe and Happy New Year that is filled with hope, peace, and love.
