Whether you’re a newcomer or have called Canada your home for many years, the entire team at MLCA wishes you a happy Canada Day and hopes you had a fabulous day celebrating in your own way with family and friends!
In keeping with the vibrant community spirit of McKenzie Lake, we hosted a fun-filled Neighbours Day event at the community centre. A BBQ, dunk tank, fun zone for the kids, and a Market Place were some of the highlights. We feel very fortunate to be in the position to help bring our community together with events such as this. Hats off to great people like you who make McKenzie Lake a wonderful place to live and grow up in.
There are so many more “Neighbourhood Happenings” right here in McKenzie Lake to look forward to all summer long! By the time you’re reading this, we hope there is still time to join in at the Stampede Breakfast at the community centre on July 9 from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Well over 1,000 guests are expected. A live local band, a kids’ fun zone, complete with a giant slide and bouncy house, and a wonderful breakfast are on the menu. A big thank you to the team at Summit Church for organizing such a large Stampede party for our community!
And speaking of neighbourhood spirit and parties…. mark your calendar and come socialize with us on July 12 and 26 and August 9 and 23 as we host Friday Night Sips and Socials between 6:00 and 9:00 pm. Trust me, you’re not going to want to miss these socials! Street beats and summer heat are on the menu as well as a cash bar and food trucks. So, grab your lawn chairs and walk, ride, or bike over to the rink to enjoy sunset views and neighbourly sips with your friends in the community!
Hey parents! The Before and After School Care Open House is August 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. We encourage all registered children and their families to attend. Come meet the teachers and take a tour through our facility. Our programs are currently full; however, we continue to take ongoing registrations. Feel free to contact our office at 403-257-1823 or email [email protected] to be put on the waitlist for our September programming.
Summer fun doesn’t stop in August. Join us in September for the highly anticipated McKenzie Frenzie taking place on September 7. This event just keeps getting bigger and better every year! We are busy working on an extensive all day band line up for the stage, as well as offering a ton of activities and games for the whole family to enjoy during the family-friendly portion of the day starting at 11:00 am and going until approximately 5:00 pm. The adult party portion then takes the lead in the evening hours until 11:00 pm. We will be serving up a good time so be sure to get a babysitter and join us for the Frenzie “After Party”!
All these events really need your support and time. It takes a small village to host events at this caliber. If you’re new to McKenzie Lake or feeling disconnected in some way, why not volunteer with us! We have many positions to fit your skill set while making yourself some new friends. So, don’t be shy! Ages 16+ welcome. Pick up that phone and call us at 403-257-1823 to get your name added to our volunteer list. We are so excited to meet you!
We also want to work with local area businesses. If you own a business in our area and would like to partner with your community association as an event sponsor, membership partner, or would like to donate items for raffles at our events, please contact Jody at 403-279-9866 for more information.
