Hello Neighbours!

November is here and that means it’s time for our AGM! Come join us on Tuesday, November 19 at 7:00 pm to learn what your MLCA team has been up to. This is your chance to join the Board of Directors and to help shape the issues that matter in your community. If you want to have your say but not join the board, then you must have a current MLCA membership ($25) to have your vote counted. Get yours on our website at mckenzielakecommunity.com or by visiting the office during regular office hours Monday to Friday. Memberships can be purchased at the AGM as well. Doors will open around 6:30 pm. See you there!

In last months’ Gazette we mentioned an adult music and brews party that will take place in the gym late October. We had to change the date to November 16. Save the date and come have a few bevies and enjoy either some live music or a great DJ. Hit up the website for more information and to get your tickets now!

It’s too soon to hear Santa’s sleigh bells but know the Elves at MLCA are already planning the Kids’ Christmas Party slated for December 7. Santa will be there with a gift for every registered child 12 and under. Due to the popularity of this event, it is split into two timeframes as well. Purchase your tickets for the earlier portion from 4:00 to 6:00 pm or for the later party from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Visit mckenzielakecommunity.com to purchase your tickets but don’t hesitate as this party sells out quickly.

Come play pickleball on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Only $50 for ten plays! Purchase your game card; once all ten games are stamped you get your 11th game free! Visit the office to purchase your card today! Make note that there is no pickleball on April 26, May 17 and 20, and June 10, 2025. See you on the courts.

Are you looking to socialize your kids with other families in the community? Our Mom and Tots program might be right for you. Visit MLCA Thursday mornings from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm during the school year. Enjoy a coffee, tea, or hot chocolate while the kids take over the gym. The kids love it, and they know this is “jumpy-jumpy” time in our bouncy house. Our drop-in fee is only $5 per family! So come on out and socialize with other parents too!

Have an upcoming special event but no idea where to host it? The MLCA gymnasium can be transformed into a beautiful space for any special event or themed party. You can also rent the gym for athletic use such as floor hockey, soccer, volleyball, or pickleball. Host a memorable party and for an additional $50 add on the bouncy house. Our light strike game can be added as well for an additional $100. You might also want to inquire about our movie screen to host your own movie party. The ideas are endless at MLCA! The rental fee includes a warming kitchen and tables with chairs for up to 200 guests! Members only pay $75 per hour and non-members pay $85 per hour.

The temperature isn’t freezing quite yet but when it does get there, we will be hard at work preparing the outdoor rink for your skating pleasure. A skate sharpening service will be added this year for a nominal fee. The rink will be available for party rental as well! The fee is only $50 per hour and includes the use of the skate shack to warm up in and for a place to enjoy food and snacks you want to supply.

By purchasing an MLCA Family Membership you are supporting your local community centre’s programs and events. Owning a membership also allows you to have a voice and vote at our AGM on what happens in and around your community centre. It’s easy to buy a membership online at www.mckenzielakecommunity.com. An MLCA membership is only $25 and is valid for an entire year! You will enjoy perks such as discounted rates for the whole family on kids’ programs and social events, as well as reduced ticket prices on Adult Nights and market vendor table rentals.

MLCA enjoys working with local area businesses. If you own a business in our area and would like to partner with your community association as an event sponsor or membership partner, or if you want to display an ad on our rink boards or would like to donate items for raffle at our events to get your business name out there, please contact Jody at [email protected] with your ideas.

See you at the community centre!
