Hello McKenzie Towne residents!
Hope that your summer is going well so far. We wanted to share about an initiative of the McKenzie Towne Community Association that you will notice this fall. Every fall, we try to run charitable donation drives for different needs:
• Warm Clothing Drive – Shared locally – October
• Food Drive – With the Veteran’s Food Bank – November
• Toy Drive – To benefit the Calgary Firefighters Toy Association – December
Why Do We Run These Donation Events?
First, there is a lot of need in our community and our city, and this is a way for our community to help those in need. We do that best by partnering with charities who are already working in the community. These charities work with people in all communities of the city, including McKenzie Towne. For the next three months, you can read about each of the events and how you can contribute.
Second, there are already a number of community participation events put on by MTC. We support MTC in these events, and don’t want to duplicate them. As the MTCA, we focus on assisting community residents with governmental issues, public property, and zoning. Running charitable events to improve the lives of those in need is an extension of that. We want to encourage residents of McKenzie Towne to support each other and to support other Calgarians, and donating items, for those who can, is important in building a strong community.
