Diamond Cove Homeowners Association President’s Message for September

Queensland cn

Dear Diamond Cove Homeowners,

We hope you had a wonderful summer and are enjoying the change of seasons as we welcome the crisp air of fall! Though the Board hasn’t met over the summer, we’ll be resuming soon and look forward to keeping you updated on any developments and plans for the community.

In the meantime, we want to take this opportunity to share some important information with you, including wildlife tips, updates on our neighbourhood, and a reminder about keeping our community safe.

Diamond Cove Wildlife: A Beautiful Part of Our Community

Our community is blessed with a variety of wildlife, from playful bunnies hopping across the lawns, to deer grazing along the edges of the neighbourhood and even on our flowers. Bobcats, coyotes, skunks, and porcupines are also part of our local ecosystem. As fall approaches, wildlife will become more active, and it’s essential that we remain mindful of our interactions with these animals.

Fall Wildlife Safety Tips

Here are a few helpful tips on how to safely interact with wildlife in our neighbourhood:

1. Keep Your Distance: Wild animals can be unpredictable, and it’s always safest to observe them from afar. Please avoid approaching them and never attempt to feed them (compost scraps included).

2. Secure Your Garbage: Keep trash cans tightly sealed and dispose of food waste properly to prevent attracting animals like raccoons, skunks, and coyotes.

3. Pets and Wildlife: To prevent possible confrontations with nocturnal animals like coyotes or bobcats, keep pets indoors during the night.

4. Be Aware of Wildlife Crossings: Watch out for deer and other animals, particularly during dawn and dusk, when they are most active. Drive carefully and be mindful of crossing wildlife.

5. Remove Attractants: Clean up fallen fruit and seeds from bird feeders or fruit trees to avoid drawing wildlife into your yard.

6. Teach Children: It’s important to teach children to respect wildlife by keeping a safe distance and not trying to interact with or feed the animals.

Other Community Updates and Neighbourhood Watch

We hope those who participated in the recent Diamond Cove Garage Sale had a successful experience! If you were part of the event, we trust you had a chance to meet your neighbours and find some great deals. Thank you again to our sponsor Brenda Field from Royal LePage!

Speaking of neighbours, we want to remind everyone to keep an eye out for each other. Neighbourhood Watch is an essential part of ensuring our community remains safe. Unfortunately, there have been reports of increased crime in the area, and we all need to stay vigilant.

Here’s how we can help:

1. Report Suspicious Activity: If you see anything unusual or suspicious, do not hesitate to report it to the police. They rely on community support and eyes to keep us safe.

2. Video Surveillance: If you have home security cameras, please consider reviewing any footage you might have, especially during times of increased activity. Police will take your home video footage if it’s clear and relevant to an investigation.

3. Contacting Authorities: Always call the police if needed, whether it’s an emergency or something less urgent. For non-emergencies, the police have a separate line where you can report issues, and for emergencies, dial 9-1-1.

We all play a part in ensuring Diamond Cove stays a safe and peaceful place to live. Stay alert, report suspicious behaviour, and let’s continue to work together for the good of the community.

Stay Connected!

As always, we encourage homeowners to send their name and email to [email protected] so we can send timely updates directly to your inbox. Staying connected is one of the best ways to stay informed!

Wishing everyone a peaceful, safe, and joyful September, and don’t forget to enjoy the beauty of our neighbourhood!

Warm regards,

Sonia Dantu
