Hello,
I would like to thank the following people who helped on Saturday, July 5, to make the Queensland Diamond Cove/Deer Ridge cleanup a success; Jeff Myrthu, Bob Hall, Julie Jack, Char Kirkpatrick, Susan Jackson, Nevelda Sands, Ian Murphy, Beth Murphy, Patrick Murphy, Anita Sukhedo, Eva Reid, Judith Nichols, Heather Field, Kevin Kiejko, Nick Black, Linda Brown, Nataliia Yasynevich, Yulian Yasynevich, City of Calgary Workers, Recon Metal and Techno Trash, and myself. We all worked diligently from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, unloading vehicles and placing the items where appropriate. I am not sure if you are aware that this event is run from these times on the nose due to City of Calgary union rules. We unfortunately had to turn some vehicles away due to this rule. We hope to see you again next year when we host this event with Deer Ridge.
A big thank you goes out to Nick who drove his work truck around the alleys looking for items to pick up. We appreciate the initiative and the items picked up. Thank you.
Please note that we are always looking for volunteers for this event and each event that we host at the community centre. You can use volunteering on your resume if you are looking for work.
I was taking my dog Ziggy for a walk the other day and ran into a few dog walkers on the off-leash area between Queensland and Diamond Cove. We were sharing how wonderful our community is, how we can call on our neighbours if we need help with things in our yards or houses. Please make sure that you welcome any new homeowner on your street to show them that we are a friendly community.
Upcoming Events at the Community Centre
Memberships are now due, please renew them at the community centre or online. They are still $20.
Oktoberfest tickets are now on sale for our event on Saturday, October 4. Darts, dancing, buffet, and cash bar. Tickets are $25 for members and $30 for non-members. Tickets must be purchased before the event; no tickets will be available at the door.
Our Halloween Dance will be on Saturday, October 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Tickets are free for member families and $10 for non-member families, cash only concession will be available.
