Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to Everyone!
What an excellent time to be a part of a community association. We just had our Volunteer Appreciation Party where we got to come together as a community and give back to our volunteers from 2019. It was a great reminder that the spirit of giving can be combined so perfectly with community spirit and even drinkable spirits!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year and absolutely my favourite holiday. It’s the time of year where we all focus on the “communities” that mean the most to us, whether it’s our family, our friends, or our neighbours. The community centre is packed this month with people celebrating with friends, family, and even coworkers! It’s so heart-warming to see so many happy faces and festive decorations.
On behalf of the WRCA, hug your loved ones, spend time with friends, and have a very Merry Christmas.

This month, we transfer a lot of communication duties to our new staff member Dawn and unload them from Colleen Gnyp. Colleen has been very involved in the WRCA for years and will continue to be an active member of the community; however, in the last couple of years she has had a massive workload. To give you an idea: she has been the editor and aggregator for our submissions to this newsletter; the point person for our eNewsletter (if you haven’t signed up, please do so online); moderator and contributor to all our social media pages; and also the board member in charge of the Community Garden!
In addition to the above, there was a very large project that launched this year that Colleen and I worked on through the summer. Together with Freddy Meynard from Great News Media, the publisher of this newsletter, we launched our new website, which is chock-full of front-end and back-end features. It’s not an off-the-shelf product and that means a lot of time went into its planning, development, and testing. Colleen was the project manager for this excellent website and continues to drive the final phases toward completion.
This isn’t a farewell. I just don’t think we should always wait for someone to leave before we express our gratitude. A lot has happened this year and it’s with pleasure that our office staff can take some of the load off our volunteers. If you see her around, or go to her clinic, take a moment to thank her for her contributions to our great community.
