Cedarbrae Community League Association News
Spring starts this month Cedarbrae! Time to start planning for your garden or yard at home, and time to think about joining our Community Garden here at the Centre. We are very lucky to have, as a volunteer CCLA Board member Deborah Van Deventer, a skilled horticulturalist who is on hand for our Community Gardeners. Deborah’s Garden classes are always well attended, check our website for details if you’d like to join. Also, in the spirit of springtime, come check out this month’s Spring Market on March 29 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm or purchase a ticket to attend our Mother’s Day High Tea on May 9. In March we will host a free series on financial literacy, the class is free, but space is limited, so make sure to sign up while spots are still available.
Our rink volunteers have had a really up and down winter! Some super cold snowy times, water restrictions, and a long bout of warm weather have made rink maintenance a big challenge. Please join us in thanking all the rink volunteers who stuck with us through this crazy winter. They are the locals who make it possible for all of us to have a free family activity in the neighbourhood all winter long!
Over the last month or so we have been piloting a new Pickleball program at the Centre. Our coach Anna has been leading guided play sessions. More affordable than continuing lessons, these sessions offer a chance to upgrade your skills and hone your game play. Guided play is now regularly scheduled and available to all Beginner through Intermediate players. Check out our schedule on sign-up-genius for upcoming guided play dates and times.
Did you know that the Centre has office space available to rent? We have a large unused upstairs office that could make a perfect base of operations for a local small business. This space doesn’t become available often, so call us for a viewing appointment if you’re interested in checking it out.
The Cedarbrae Community League Association (CCLA) is guided by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors, elected by the members of our community. The Board meets at the Cedarbrae Community Centre on the second Sunday of every month at 11:00 am, with the exception of July and August. Want to join us and work to make Cedarbrae an even better place to live, learn, and work in? Volunteer opportunities are available. New ideas and fresh faces are always welcome, come check us out!
