Community League Association News

Spring
is in full swing, and there’s a lot going on at your Community Centre! Another
very successful Spring Market was held at the end of March. A huge thank-you
goes out to the organisers, vendors, volunteers, and shoppers that make these
Markets such great events! The Seasonal Markets continue to increase in
popularity, vendor tables sold out early, and more money was raised for the
programs and services offered through our Community Centre.

We also
just completed our three-part series of free seminars on building wealth across
generations. Many thanks to all who participated, it’s exciting for us to bring
new learning opportunities to our neighbourhood, and this series was very well-received!

The
Community Garden beds will not be available to rent this year. Instead, we will
spend the season revamping, retooling, and rebuilding so that we can offer the
best growing opportunities in the years to come. Please consider volunteering
to help us out with this large project. It’s a great way to get involved, meet
some of your neighbours, and build a legacy of something great that will serve
our community for years to come.

In an
effort to increase Pickleball participation over the warmer months, we have
created a survey so we can cater this summer’s Pickleball program to our loyal
Cedarbrae players. If you’re involved in Pickleball in Cedarbrae please take a
few minutes to complete the survey – let us know how we can best serve you! If
you are a Pickleball player and have not yet received the survey, please
contact our office so we can send it to you.

Did you
know that the Centre has office space available to rent? We have a large unused
upstairs office that could make a perfect base of operations for another local non-profit
like us. This space doesn’t become available often, so call us for a viewing
appointment if you’re interested in checking it out.

The
Cedarbrae Community League Association (CCLA) is guided by a dedicated
volunteer Board of Directors elected by the members of our community. The Board
meets at the Cedarbrae Community Centre on the second Sunday of every month at 11:00
am, with the exception of July and August. Want to join us and work to make
Cedarbrae an even better place to live, learn, and work in? Volunteer
opportunities are always available. New ideas and fresh faces are most welcome,
come check us out!
