Coach Hill’s Traffic and Safety Update for November

CoachHill cn

Dear Neighbours,

I’d like to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of reporting traffic incidents and safety concerns through 3-1-1. The City of Calgary will not take action or follow up on any issues that have not been officially reported through this channel. If you notice anything that affects pedestrian and/or traffic safety—whether it’s a road hazard, speeding issue, or problematic intersections—please make sure to call 3-1-1 or use the 3-1-1 mobile app or web portal to report it.

As your Community Association, we are deeply committed to advocating for safety improvements within our neighbourhood. While we are frequently copied on emails sent to our Ward 6 office, we must prioritize which concerns to get involved in based on both the severity of the safety risk and the volume of complaints received. Your reports to 3-1-1 not only ensure that the City is aware of the problem, but they also help us gauge the most pressing issues affecting our community.

One area that has been a long-standing concern for our residents is Old Banff Coach Road (OBCR). After years of consistent advocacy, I’m pleased to share that earlier this year, we received some promising news from City of Calgary Mobility and the Ward 6 office: two new traffic lights are planned for OBCR to improve safety within our community boundaries.

• The first will be installed at OBCR and Coachway Rd in 2024.

• The second will be placed at OBCR and Coach Hill Road/Patterson Hill by 2025.

These traffic lights will make a significant difference in ensuring safer travel along this busy corridor, and we will continue to advocate for further safety improvements as needed.

Thank you for your ongoing vigilance and for helping us keep our community safe!

Marcie Miranda

Traffic and Safety Director
