Annual memberships are only $25—learn more and join at https://discoveryridge.com/membership/.

Community Cleanup: The DRCA, in partnership with Springbank and Signal Hill, is pleased to announce that the annual Community Cleanup will take place on June 13, 2026! Stay tuned for more details in upcoming communications. Let’s work together to make a lasting impact on our neighbourhood!

Safety and Security: The DRCA continues to work in partnership with the City of Calgary and Calgary Police Service to explore traffic calming and other safety measures in the community. Residents are reminded to be especially mindful during peak times in the morning and afternoon when children are arriving at and leaving school.

If you observe any traffic-related concerns, please report them through the CPS non-emergency line or by contacting 3-1-1.

Stampede Roundup: Yahoo! Mark your calendars for June 20, 2026 — our ever-popular Stampede Roundup is back. Join your neighbours for an afternoon packed with fun, connection, and community spirit. You won’t want to miss it!

We’re on the lookout for awesome volunteers for the Stampede Roundup! Keep your eyes peeled on our Facebook, Instagram, and the DRCA website for exciting opportunities to join in on the action. Don’t miss out on the chance to be part of this great event!

New Special Events are being considered. If you have any suggestions or want to join our Special Events team message [email protected].

Music in the Park will take a pause in 2026 due to the need for a volunteer event lead. The good news? We’d love to bring this popular community event back in 2027! To make that happen, we’re looking for a team lead (Project Manager) to step forward by January 15, 2027. You won’t be on your own—past leads, the experienced event team, and the DRCA Board are ready to provide plenty of support.

Interested in helping bring the music back to the park? Contact Lilian at [email protected] to learn more.

Fundraising

Bottle Shack: Your donated refundables make a real difference in our community! While the casino fundraiser we host every 18 months provides important support, many of our day-to-day operating expenses cannot be covered by those funds. That’s where your empty beverage containers come in. Every bottle and can you donate helps cover essentials like electricity, water, and other costs needed to operate the recreation facility, support the board, and host the special events that bring our community together.

Thank you for turning your empties into something meaningful for the neighbourhood!

Casino: Big news! The DRCA has been awarded casino fundraiser dates for July 30 and 31, 2026 — and we need your help to make it another huge success!

Held every 18 months, this is our largest fundraiser, with the last casino raising an incredible $89,995.30 for our community.

These funds go directly toward building, repairing, and improving the DRCA Recreation Facility—helping maintain the amenities and spaces our community enjoys every day.

Want to make a difference?

Please consider volunteering for a shift during the casino. It’s a fun way to meet neighbours while supporting projects that benefit our entire community. https://www.volunteerconnector.org.

Together, we can make this our best fundraiser yet!

Recreation Facilities

Dedicated Discovery Ridge volunteers maintain the community’s tennis, pickleball, roller hockey, skating, and hockey facilities year-round.

Ice Update: Our skating season was cut short this year by unseasonably warm weather and some City-mandated water restrictions. As always though, we had great ice while it lasted thanks to our dedicated rink crews! We are always in need of additional volunteers to help out so please let us know if interested.

Rink Update – Summer Use: Continued maintenance is planned for the boards and netting. Pickleball and roller-hockey equipment will be installed when warmer weather settles in.

Tennis Courts: New this season we will have locked gates for the tennis courts with a punch code available to DRCA Members. Our courts have been increasingly popular, and the addition of locks will help us to ensure the courts are primarily available for our members. We will be replacing the tennis nets and performing other maintenance as required. See you on the courts soon!

Solar Panels for the Recreation Facility: The DRCA is continuing to explore options for grant funding to install solar panels and offset our facility operating expenses.

Rec Facility Cleanliness: We ask all users of the facilities to keep the areas clean and tidy and use the provided waste receptacles. Otherwise, the cleaning falls on just a few volunteers. In particular at the rink, we tend to find garbage left behind both at the benches and on the rink itself.

Planning

Work continues on several important community priorities. The DRCA continues to advocate for pathway access related to Clearwater Park and pathways, particularly with the planned demolition of the old Highway 8 bridge and the absence of a pathway on the new structure. Discussions are also ongoing regarding the Elbow Valley wetlands, where the DRCA has met with the Taza developer and representatives from the City of Calgary to explore restoration and improvements following the wetlands’ removal during ring road construction. In addition, potential pathway connections to the Taza communities from 69 Street SW remain under consideration in future development plans, which could improve walking and cycling access to the east. Stay tuned for more updates as work continues in these areas.
