Hello neighbours,
Weekly Farm Stand Coming to Discovery Ridge
The DRCA board has been collaborating with the City to bring a mini farmers’ market to Discovery Ridge this summer. The Farm Stand Program is designed to provide Calgarians with easy access to locally grown produce right in their own community. We are excited to announce that Shirley’s Greenhouse will be joining us this summer, offering a variety of greenhouse and field-grown produce, including tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, potatoes, kale, and more. They will also have an assortment of jams, relishes, farm-fresh eggs, and baked goods available. The Farm Stand program is tentatively scheduled to run on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, starting in late May, and will be located near the parking lot of our recreation facilities. Stay tuned for more updates and keep an eye out for event signage near the fields this season!
Calgary Police Service – Community Safety Dashboard
Did you know that the Calgary Police Service maintains a Community Safety Dashboard at data.calgarypolice.ca. This dashboard offers detailed crime statistics for various neighbourhoods across Calgary, enabling residents and stakeholders to access up-to-date information on crime rates and trends. This resource is valuable for staying informed about local safety issues and fostering community engagement.
Below is an example of some of the information available:
Discovery Ridge remains very low on virtually all crime measures by comparison to other communities in Calgary. The DRCA plans to hold periodic virtual information sessions for community residents with Calgary Police Service representatives to provide updates and answer any questions. Our next Public Safety and Community Engagement Awareness Session will be held April 8, 7:30 to 8:30 pm. Please visit www.discoveryridge.com for more information.
