Discovery Ridge’s Letter from the Board for January

Happy New Year! We wish all Discovery Ridge residents—and their loved ones—a happy and joyful 2026.

As highlighted in our Discovery Ridge’s Year in Review in the December Ridge Review, there’s a lot happening in our vibrant neighbourhood. In the year ahead, we’ll continue the great work already underway while taking on new initiatives as opportunities arise—there’s much to accomplish together.

Community Event Leads Needed

Interested in leading a community event? Maybe you and a friend would like to volunteer together. We love co-chairs, and many of Discovery’s most successful events were created and led by two people. You won’t be on your own—volunteers are always ready to help.

Our wonderful committee chair Lillian is stepping back slightly but is happy to coach and support anyone willing to take the lead. For returning events, we have ready-to-use roadmaps, and the DRCA Board will support you every step of the way.

Many past event leads started when their kids were young, creating fun, family-friendly events that built lasting memories and a strong sense of community.

Past and returning events include:

• New Year’s Day Skate (music and hot chocolate)

• Stampede Breakfast

• Stampede Roundup (returning in 2026)

• Fun Run (5K and 10K through the boulevard and Griffith Woods)

• Music in the Park (lead needed for 2026)

• Pumpkin Hunt and Decorating

• Santa in Discovery Ridge (may return in 2026)

• Wine and Cheese Night

• Grilled Cheese fundraiser for a local charity

Have an idea of your own? We’d love to hear it! Email [email protected].

Other Ways to Get Involved

Interested in planning or helping in another way? There’s so much happening in Discovery Ridge and many opportunities to make a positive impact. Email [email protected] to indicate your interest.

Not sure where you fit yet? Email [email protected], and a board member will connect with you to share their experience and give you an overview of opportunities.

Safety and Security

We’re fortunate to live in a beautiful, tucked-away community. Let’s help keep it that way—please watch your speed, clear sidewalks to prevent slips and falls, and consider how small actions can enhance everyone’s enjoyment of Discovery Ridge.

We look forward to seeing you out and about in the community this year.
