Hello Summer!
Summer was late this year and it felt at a moment that we were still in winter! Nevertheless, I hope every one of you is having a fantastic time with family and friends.
We at CECA are busy this summer. We had our ever-successful Community Cleanup, which was held in late June. The event was run by a great group of CECA board members and Evergreen resident volunteers. On behalf of myself and CECA’s board of directors, I would like to thank everyone for making this year’s Community Cleanup another success. I would also like to thank the office of MLA Eric Bouchard and Councillor Dan Mclean for their support of the association and their participation. We have also finished, with great success, the Parade of Garage Sales where we had more than 40 participants. At the time this newsletter issue is published, we should also have our Home Alone and Babysitting event done. This program is targeted at children over nine years of age and youths. Please note that we run these events either at cost, for free, or with nominal revenues, aiming to collect funds for other community programs. CECA is run by volunteers at all times.
We have 160 memberships out of approximately 7,000 households in the Evergreen Community. We are planning to have a membership drive this summer where some volunteers will visit houses to have more exposure, engage more with residents, and encourage people to purchase memberships. Memberships are $20 per family per year, that entitles the whole family for free events and services (e.g., Community Cleanup, Winter Festival, Easter Egg Hunt, Movie Night, Cultural Event, etc.). Please remember to purchase or renew your memberships as proceeds from membership sales help CECA in running programs and events for the whole community. We are always looking for people like yourself to help and engage in serving our community. This time, we are looking for a Membership Director and a Member-At-Large to help in different assignments.
