Happy June, Glenbrook!
I’m looking forward to the official start of summer, and I’m excited to see the steady return of events and programs in Glenbrook. However, as we continue to find ways to live with COVID, we are unfortunately, and constantly, reminded of the past two years in the form of discarded face masks and used disposable gloves that are found laying around the community. I’m sure we have all found examples of this, and I would like to ask everyone for help in cleaning up our neighbourhoods. Let’s all make it a point, if out for a walk or running an errand, to ensure our streets, pathways and parking lots are free of these disposed masks and gloves. I thank you in advance for helping return Glenbrook to the beautiful community it has always been.
The next phase of public engagement for the Westbrook Communities Local Area Planning Project is happening this month. You will find more information in this newsletter as to how you can make your voice heard. This is an extremely important project for Glenbrook and its surrounding communities, as it will decide how redevelopment and density will look in the years to come.
We have set the date of our 2022 Annual General Meeting for the Glenbrook Community Association: Thursday, October 6. It will be held at the Glenbrook Hall at 7:00 pm that evening, and as always, it is an important meeting for residents to attend. On the agenda will be our upcoming budgets, a continued plan for recovering from the pandemic, and updates to our financial and development policies.
The outdoor sport courts are back up and running, so feel free to get out and enjoy them with your friends and family. Thanks to everyone for their patience, and to those who put in the volunteer hours needed to get everything ready for the season, it’s much appreciated!
As summer approaches, please remember to check your speed in our playground zones and throughout the community. You can always reach me by email at [email protected], or call/text me at 403 616 4644.
Take care,
Murray Ost, President
