Board Updates
The Board would like to share that a Glendale neighbour has requested our community’s support for a Glendale family in need. A GoFundMe page has been set up, which includes a link to a media article that describes the house fire in our community that occurred in April: https://www.gofundme.com/f/family-lost-home-possessions-in-fire.
It’s been a busy month with courts membership starting up and looking ahead to the summer season. One action we are looking forward to is a Paint the Pavement project we are initiating with artist Jessica Sinclair. This project involves students from Glendale School, who have submitted inspiration drawings to Jessica, and she will use those to design nature-based images that will be painted on the roadway between the school and the Hall grounds. Look forward to this new bright spot in the community supported in part through funding from Activate YYC!
We had another successful Community Cleanup Day on May 4, thanks to many helping hands who worked together to make the drop off area safe and smooth sailing for everyone who drove or walked in loads destined for the dump, electronics recycling, metals recycling, and donations.
We are also looking forward to our next Annual General Meeting on September 10. Stay tuned for more information; we will be circulating an administrative update to the GGMCA bylaws for vote by the membership, as well as providing an update on all of the projects and activities that have happened in our first full year of reopening the Hall since the sewer damage and renovation project.
Updates from the City of Calgary
Full information on activities in City parks can be found at https://www.calgary.ca/parks/activities.html.
Calgary’s General Election will take place on October 20, 2025, and eligible voters can check if they are registered, update their information, or add themselves to the Permanent Electors Register until August 1, 2025. Visit www.voterlink.ab.ca or call Elections Alberta toll free at 310-0000 then dial 780-427-7191. As of June 1, due to the start of Municipal election, the Ward 6 office will have restrictions on what can be shared (e.g. no City-funded newsletters, open houses, or mass emails unless approved for emergencies). Additionally, beginning September 22 (Nomination Day), City-funded websites will not be updated until after the election. Despite these changes, the Ward 6 Office is available to support you and assist with any concerns.
Reminder: New Bylaw for Recreational Vehicles. Between April 1 and October 31, an RV can be parked on your front driveway (or if no driveway, on the street in front of your house: for three consecutive days, followed by two days that it needs to be in storage, with additional details at https://www.calgary.ca/bylaws/recreational-vehicles.html. Between November 1 and March 31, the RV should be in storage and is not allowed to be parked on the driveway/street. Detached trailers and campers cannot be parked on city streets or alleys.
Edworthy Park Access: The City conducted focused engagement with the Wildwood community in March to better understand preferences for Edworthy Park access. Option two was the preferred option by respondents and will be incorporated into the recommended plan; see the detailed ‘What We Heard Report’ summarizing the feedback received at Engage.Calgary.ca/EdworthyAccess.
