Glendale President’s Message for March

President’s Message

Dear Glendale friends,

As I write this, I have no idea what the weather may look like when you read it. It could be +15 or -25. We have had a wild season that made it incredibly difficult to maintain our outdoor skating ice near the hall. Regardless of the shortened season, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Icemakers for their dedication and hard work during this year’s flooding season. Your efforts are valued and the whole community appreciates you. I’d also like to thank all the snow angels in the community who shovelled walks and pathways this winter for your busy or less able-to neighbours.

With March break and Easter weekend just around the corner, I hope everyone enjoys some well-deserved time with family and friends. Mark your calendars for a “Spring into Colour” Community Easter Celebration at the hall on April 4. Visit our website or view the eNews for more information.

We’ll also be organizing a community cleanup soon, and we’d love your help. The volunteer signup will be posted online as soon as we have the dates landed. Volunteering at this event is a great way to meet neighbours and keep Glendale looking its best.

Lastly, I’d like to give a special shout out to a group of community members near Kelwood Drive who collaborated together to work towards a common goal. You know who you are, so I won’t get into specifics but here is a direct quote from one of your neighbours: “… something remarkable happened: neighbours came together, united by a common cause. Through meetings in living rooms, spirited discussions over cups of coffee, and countless emails and phone calls, we found strength in numbers. Together, we voiced our concerns and made it clear that our community matters.” Well done!

Wishing you all a safe, happy spring.

Take care,

Myles

President, GGMCA
