Glendale Community Announces New Childcare Partnership with Seedlings Early Learning
Seedlings Early Learning and the Glendale/Glendale Meadows Community Association are pleased to announce a new partnership to provide enhanced early childhood learning and care in southwest Calgary.
Seedlings will operate its new location out of the Glendale Community Hall on 25 Ave SW. Permitting and licence approvals are being sought in preparation for the 2023-24 school year. The precise start date for the new program will depend on those approval processes.
The new agreement will see parents able to access full-day learning and care for children from ages 2 to 5 at the Glendale Community Association for the first time. Seedlings will also offer half-day preschool programming for parents who choose that option. The community association has ceased to operate the current Glendale Community Preschool’s morning and afternoon programs as of June 30, 2023 (the end of the current school year).
Seedlings offers a Reggio Emilia Approach to early childhood learning. Reggio is an educational philosophy based on the image of a child with strong potential for development and a person with rights, who learns through many languages. The Glendale program will feature Spanish and English instruction.
“Seedlings is very excited to be part of the Glendale community,” says Seedlings founder and owner, Judith Sanchez. “The environment in which children grow plays a very important role in the early years. We are very happy to deliver the program from the beautiful natural setting that the Glendale community centre offers. The children will learn in a beautiful classroom and enjoy growing their own plot in the community garden, playing, exploring, and having fun in Glendale’s lovely outdoor area.
Seedlings is a Calgary family business founded in 2006. It currently operates five early learning centres in Southwest Calgary. Glendale will be its sixth location.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Seedlings to Glendale,” says Chris Welner, president of the GGMCA. “Seedlings has an impeccable reputation in delivering quality childcare. They are the experts and we are so pleased that Glendale families who require all-day care will finally have that option in our community.”
