Memory Lane: Halloween in Glendale
Our family moved to Glendale in October 2018 and quickly learned that the Halloween dance at the community hall was a tradition not to be missed. This event introduced us to the vibrant neighbourhood that is Glendale.
Then, 2020 marked a change in the world order and kids celebrated with a social distancing parade around the rink – a very fun event, with a great turnout and agreeable weather. Neighbours rose to the challenge – full chocolate bars tied to trees and engineered slides were just some of the ingenious candy delivery systems for the trick-or-treaters.
Thankfully the dances did return to the hall with little goblins, monsters, and witches arriving ready to dance the night away. No doubt, the excitement of the season is now upon us: pumpkins on the front stoop, skeletons waving a bony-handed hello to passersby, sneaky leaves blowing into doorways left open to enjoy these last mild days. We expect the same enthusiasm for this year’s dance and can’t wait to see everyone at the hall in their spooky costumes. (Of course, adults too).
