Happy December, Glendale.
‘Tis the season for [insert all the things you and your family like to see/do/eat/experience at this time of year to make it special and memorable for you]. Here at the GGMCA we are looking forward to a relatively quiet holiday season after a very busy fall of events and getting oriented as a board for the year. One festive addition we initiated this year that we hope brings some joy as you pass by the grounds in the evenings is some festive lighting around the skating rink area. Huge thank-you to Jim, Josh, and Joe for the work they put into that lighting.
Speaking of the skating rink, I want to remind our readers that Glendale’s outdoor ice is a major draw for skaters in the winter months and it’s only possible because of the dedicated volunteers we have. Did you know that we once had 30 volunteers signed up in one season – that’s seven crews (one for each night of the week) with four to five people per crew. What does it mean to be on a crew? I’ve heard from some hesitant volunteers it sounds intimidating, but the truth is – once you try it, you’ll be hooked! You can be 14 years old or 65 years old, male or female, a hockey enthusiast or simply someone who enjoys the sheen of fresh ice in the moonlight. It’s one of those things you can take pride in while enjoying some great company at the same time. Email [email protected] or [email protected] to learn more and to join a crew.
From our board to your household – thank you for being a great member of our community and we hope you have a wonderful holiday season. See you around!
Take care,
Myles
