Happy New Year, Haysboro!
I trust everyone had a great holiday season and an opportunity to bring in the new year in style. As always, the outdoor rinks were busy. This is always a welcome sight over the holidays.
I must say, I am happy that 2024 is behind us. It was a busy year as the Board worked hard to engage members on key matters affecting the association and community such as afterschool care and pre-school, large developments in the area such as Glenmore Landing, an updated Local Area Plan, a noise barrier, and a bicycle and pedestrian pathway project being undertaken by the City. It has been rewarding to hear your voices and perspectives.
For me personally, our engagement revealed the importance of dialogue and striving for common ground. Our community is evolving; we have more people moving in and a strong community of folks who have been here since the beginning of Haysboro. Through this evolution, our community will be shaped by how well we maintain a welcoming dialogue. With this thought, I think it fitting to share the HCA mission statement. It reads “The Haysboro Community Association, as a volunteer run organization, thoughtfully and constructively shapes our neighbourhood. We are innovative. We provide social and recreational programming; encourage and develop unique projects; and foster open dialogue with residents and stakeholders”.
Please feel free to join the conversation. If you have suggestions as to how we can achieve our mission, we’d love to hear from you. Our board meetings are held at the Social Lounge of the Hall every third Wednesday of the month (7:00 to 9:00 pm). We hope to see you.
Regards,
Andrew Forsyth
HCA President
