Has your family outgrown their winter clothing, gear, and Halloween costumes? Looking for free, clean, gear in good condition to get you and your family through the winter? Look no further, the Haysboro community invites you to participate in the 2023 Winter Gear and Halloween Swap.
Donate and drop your clean winter clothing, gear, and Halloween costumes that are in good condition at the Haysboro Community Centre on Tuesdays from September 5 to October 3 between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm, and on Friday, October 6 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. With your donation drop you’ll receive an early bird ticket to shop the following day.
Shop the swap for free on Saturday, October 7! All community members are invited to come shop, pick up a Halloween costume, and gear up for winter. The early bird shop will be open for ticket holders from 10:00 to 11:00 am. From 11:00 am to 3:00 pm the Swap is open for everyone.
What Items Are Included in the Swap? Donate and Shop for:
• Snowsuits, winter jackets, boots, toques, mittens, gloves, and balaclavas
• Gear including skis, skates, snowshoes, and sleds
• Halloween costumes and accessories
Why a Winter Gear and Halloween Swap?
Haysboro is a vibrant and diverse community with many growing families. The 2022 Winter Market and Gear Swap was met with enthusiasm and success, and our 2023 May Community Cleanup received many bikes of which 15 were donated and welcomed into happy new homes. Let’s come together, support each other, upcycle, save money, and build community spirit together.
What Happens to Unclaimed Items?
All unclaimed items will be donated to schools in the area that have a winter gear closet for students in need and to charities.
We Need Your Donations and Your Volunteer Time!
• Friday, October 6 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. Pick up a shift to sort donations and set up the shop.
• Saturday, October 7 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Pick up a shift to set up families with free Community Memberships, help with set up or take down, outfit shoppers with technical gear, and organize the shop and keep it running smoothly.
